Air Italy Polska is granted ETOPS-180 certificate
Air Italy Polska Can Fly Even Further
Warsaw, 8th July 2009 - Polish charter airline Air Italy Polska has just received new operational specifications - ETOPS 180. Thanks to this new specification the Polish operator will be able to perform long haul flights more often than it has been so far. Receiving ETOPS 180 confirms once again excellent technical condition of the airline's aircraft. It is also a proof that Polish airlines meet the highest air safety requirements.
ETOPS 180 is the most advanced certificate for possible border time granted by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) for Boeing757 planes.
"Recently a lot is being said on air travels' safety. This is completely unnecessary as next to elevators, planes are and will be the safest means of transport. ETOPS 180 specification is a clear signal for Air Italy Polska's customers that our planes fulfill the highest safety standards. From now on we will be able to operate even longer flights and use our fleet more effectively"- said Mariusz Szpikowski, Air Italy Polska President.
Up to now Air Italy Polska has been using AOC certificate with ETOPS 120 operational specifications.
Air Operators Certificate (AOC) - a document issued for the airlines by air authority of a particular country, in Poland -Civil Aviation Office. It entitles an airline e.g. to passengers transport by air in the estimated areas of carrying out operations. AOC also defines detailed authorizations and permits, including ETOPS.
ETOPS - Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards - ICAO regulation (International Civil Aviation Organization) regarding twin-engine aircraft, entitling carriers to perform flights, during which the distances to the nearest airport are longer than the border time stated in AOC certificate. As a rule, airlines receive 60min border time. The longest possible border time for Boeing B757 is 180 minutes.
